The turnkey stay
On 13 August 2026, the gardens of the SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort, on the heights of Almenara, host the Andalusian stage of the Autobello Grand Tour: a concours d'elegance where the rarest bodywork of the moment lines up on the lawn, paired with a fine watchmaking exhibition, gourmet offerings and cocktails into the evening. The calendar does the rest: August in Sotogrande is peak polo season, and the clubs of the Guadiaro valley play all month just a few kilometres away. Polo in the afternoon, engines and watches in the evening, and everyone in the same place.
Where to stay
- SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort — The very venue of the event: you walk down to the concours d'elegance without getting back in the car. The SO/ (Accor) brand resort occupies the Almenara estate, on the heights of Sotogrande (Avenida Almenara s/n, San Roque, Cádiz). A contemporary thalasso-inspired spa of 3,500 m², several pools, an 18-hole course on the estate (The Alto Club) and access to La Reserva Beach Club. Three in-house tables: Cortijo Santa María 1962, IXO Tapas & Bar and the beach shack MARXA.
- Finca Cortesín — The grand palace hotel of the coast, in Casares (province of Málaga), about twenty minutes' drive east of Sotogrande, between Marbella and the strait. A private estate, suites and residences, a spa of over 2,200 m², an 18-hole course designed by Cabell B. Robinson and a private seafront beach club with a 35-metre infinity pool, minutes from the hotel. Three restaurants on the estate: El Jardín de Lutz, REI and Don Giovanni. Note: it is a base outside Sotogrande, so about twenty minutes' drive on the evening of the Autobello.
Where to dine
- Dalmar, Fairmont La Hacienda Costa del Sol — The gastronomic table of the Fairmont La Hacienda, on the San Roque coast, a few kilometres from Sotogrande. Gastronomic Andalusian cuisine by Benito Gómez — two Michelin stars for his Bardal, in Ronda — built on seasonality, craftsmanship and local produce, with a menu in constant evolution. Dalmar is recommended by the Michelin Guide, but is not itself starred. Service Tuesday to Saturday, evenings only (7pm-10:30pm); the restaurant also serves an adults-only breakfast.
- Trocadero Sotogrande — Sotogrande's seaside institution, Paseo del Parque s/n, set on the site of the legendary El Cucurucho beach club and run by Grupo Trocadero. Interiors by Lorenzo Queipo de Llano, hammocks and sunbeds facing the sea, a pool, a Mediterranean menu year-round and a Thai-Japanese Asian restaurant in summer, cocktails and DJ sessions. No Michelin star, but this is the lunch and the sunset all of Sotogrande shows up for in August. Open daily from 11am to midnight, kitchen from 1pm to 11pm.
What to experience
- Polo à Sotogrande, Ayala Polo Club — Polo is the true backdrop of August in Sotogrande. The Ayala Polo Club, at Hacienda de San Enrique (San Enrique, a few kilometres from Sotogrande's marina), fields three professional grounds, three exercise tracks and one covered arena, and hosts low, medium and high handicap tournaments. The club sells VIP Daily Passes online: it is the most fashionable grandstand of the month, and the natural extension of the afternoon before heading back up to Almenara. The exact match schedule for 13 August should be confirmed directly with the club, which does not publish a detailed programme in advance.
- The Beach, La Reserva Club Sotogrande — A sand-bottomed lagoon carved into the hills of La Reserva: 2,800 m² of private beach and chambaos with service, paired with a 17,000 m² sports lagoon (kayak, paddle, electric surf, no motorised craft). An adults-only heated pool with a cocktail bar, SO/ SPA signature treatments, two tables — Ancala (Andalusian, with nikkei and fusion touches, Josper-grilled) and Chiringa, in the chiringuito spirit — plus The Treat Wagon food truck. From June to September, Après Beach evenings with DJs, live music and tapas by Michelin-starred chef Rafael Muria. Open to members and day visitors alike.
