The turnkey stay
From 13 to 15 August 2026, the Fari archipelago, in North Malé Atoll, becomes an open-air stage: the Fari Islands Festival spreads its programme across two neighbouring islands of the archipelago. Rosamund Pike headlining, Sebastian Tellier, DJ FS Green and NOTEP on the decks, Sean Wotherspoon for the installations and official merchandising, WAGYUMAFIA and Michelin-starred chef Samuel Lee (SENsation, Paris) at the stoves, the Dry Wave Cocktail Studio at the shaker — three days where art, sound and dining answer one another above the lagoon, between wellness sessions by Bamford and Noble Panacea and a nature programme led with the Olive Ridley Project. Access is strictly reserved for resort residents: the villa is the ticket. Three highlights are included in the room rate — opening cocktail on the 13th, sunset cocktail on the 14th, closing Fari Marina Fiesta on the 15th. All that remains is to choose which island to unpack on.
Where to stay
- Patina Maldives, Fari Islands — The heart of the festival: it is on Patina's official website that the Fari Islands Festival is announced, from 13 to 15 August 2026. The resort occupies a 42-hectare island in the Fari archipelago and overlooks the Fari Marina Village, the social hub of the Fari Islands. The FLOW spa offers 1,500 m² of treatments, watsu and meditation spaces. James Turrell's Skyspace Amarta is part of the resort's permanent collection of eight works, and thirteen dining concepts share the island — Portico, Helios, Brasa, KANDU, Wok Society, Farine, Arabesque, Fari Beach Club, Veli Bar. Private speedboat transfer from Velana International Airport, arranged by the resort.
- The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands — The archipelago's second address, about 45 km from Velana International Airport; the speedboat transfer is charged (around 1,027 USD net round trip per adult, service and taxes included). Villas perched above turquoise waters or nestled in beach coves, and Signature Villas. Its spa is a ring set on the lagoon: nine treatment rooms, organic Bamford products — Bamford also being the festival's wellness partner. The resort gives access to the Fari Marina Village, the archipelago's common square.
Where to dine
- Fari Beach Club, Patina Maldives — Patina's beach club, on the festival island itself, a few minutes' walk from the villas. Seafood cuisine, locally sourced produce, feet in the sand. Bar from 12:30 pm to midnight, lunch from 12 pm to 5 pm, dinner from 7 pm to 10:30 pm.
- Summer Pavilion, The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands — A lantern-inspired space set facing the lagoon, for modern Cantonese cuisine with bold flavours: stir-fried Maldivian lobster, Peking duck, Chinese teas, a fine wine list and the chef's tasting menu. On the Ritz-Carlton island, next to Patina. Worth knowing: the Michelin Guide does not cover the Maldives — this table holds no star.
What to experience
- Skyspace Amarta par James Turrell — A chamber of light open to the sky, designed by James Turrell for Patina Maldives — one of the eight works in the resort's permanent collection. As day tips into night, the space darkens then lights up, and the perception of the sky recomposes itself. Turrell himself describes the Maldives as the dream location for a Skyspace at sea. Session to be booked with the resort.
- Olive Ridley Project, partenaire conservation du festival — A sea turtle conservation NGO, founded in 2013, partner of the Fari Islands Festival's nature programme: veterinary care, scientific research and awareness-raising. It operates in Kenya, the Maldives, Oman, Pakistan and the Seychelles; in the Maldives, in the Baa, Laamu, Lhaviyani, Raa and Shaviyani atolls, with three care facilities (Baa, Lhaviyani, Raa). Note: the NGO announces no centre at Fari nor in North Malé Atoll, and the festival's sea excursion is run by Dive Butlers.
