The turnkey stay

Between Porto Cervo and the cove of Cala Petra Ruja, the Costa Smeralda is not somewhere you visit: it is somewhere you live, to the rhythm of the sun. You arrive at Nikki Beach by sea — the complimentary shuttle leaves the bay of Cala di Volpe every fifteen minutes, from 11:00 to 18:00 — for a lunch that drifts into champagne and music, from July's "Dolce Sound" nights to the final "Arrivederci Estate" on 12 September, carried on into the evening at the Nikki Beach Cocktail Club on the harbour. The rest of the stay comes down to three gestures: a starred table above the old port, a Gallura winery at sunset, and the sails of the maxi-yachts gliding past the terrace.

• Hotel Cala di Volpe, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Costa Smeralda — The 1963 icon conceived as a fishing village by Jacques Couëlle: 121 unique rooms and suites, hand-made frescoes and ceramics, one of the largest seawater pools in the Mediterranean and Italy's first Shiseido Spa. A strategic address: it is from the bay of Cala di Volpe that the complimentary sea shuttle departs for Nikki Beach, at Cala Petra Ruja.
• Romazzino, A Belmond Hotel, Costa Smeralda — The white vessel of 1964, now under Belmond: arched rooms and rooftop terraces, private villas with pools, two pools and a long stretch of fine sand (Via Romazzino 4, Arzachena). Sardinian cuisine at La Terrasse, cooking classes, paddleboarding and the Pevero trail. 2026 season from 28 May to October, minutes from Cala Petra Ruja.

Where to dine

• Italo Bassi ConFusion Restaurant (1 étoile Michelin) — The only Michelin star in Porto Cervo and on the Costa Smeralda (Italy Guide 2026). Via Aga Khan 1, in the heart of the Promenade du Port, above the old harbour: open kitchen, mirrors and gold, two tasting menus (the classics or the creations) and an à la carte list of noble ingredients — oysters, caviar, prime seafood. • Somu, Baja Sardinia (1 étoile Michelin) — The star of Salvatore Camedda, a chef born in Cabras, at Piazzetta Due Vele in Baja Sardinia, facing the bay: contemporary Sardinian cooking built on the island's great products — bottarga from Cabras, casizolu, fiore sardo, wild herbs of the Costa Smeralda — with deliberately unexpected pairings. About twenty minutes from Porto Cervo, the perfect alternative to dinner on the harbour.

What to experience

• Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup 2026, Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo — From 6 to 12 September 2026, the world's greatest maxi-yachts contest the bay off Porto Cervo, under the aegis of the YCCS, founded in 1967 by the Aga Khan. The timing could not be better: the final race coincides with the "Arrivederci Estate" closing party at Nikki Beach on 12 September, and the Rolex Swan Cup follows from 13 to 19 September.
• Vigne Surrau, visites et dégustations, Arzachena — Ten minutes from the beaches, a winery of contemporary architecture (local stone and glass façades) set among 50 hectares of Gallura vineyards. Guided experiences by reservation, from €45 to €90 per person: "The Excellences" with a cellar tour, "The colours of the terroir", "La Dolce Vita" or simply a gourmet aperitivo. Open until 22:00 from May to September, 23:00 in August — the perfect counterpoint to a day on the beach.
