How to get in

Victoria Racing Club (VRC), organiser of the Melbourne Cup Carnival — Flemington Racecourse, 448 Epsom Road, Flemington, Melbourne. The Birdcage itself has no public box office: it is reserved for VRC financial members of the 2026/27 season, Rails Pedestrian Pass holders, and guests of the brands holding a marquee there (Lexus, Myer, Crown, Emirates, Penfolds…) — entry is therefore obtained either through a partner brand, through general Birdcage ticketing (Reserved / tables), or through accredited press.

Main paid access, in tiers: Birdcage Reserved (pedestrian pass) and reserved tables — prices published season by season on vrc.com.au, to be checked before booking; sponsor marquees (e.g. Makybe Diva Marquee) from 1895 AUD/person, the only rate confirmed at the time of writing. Reserved for VRC financial members for part of the offering. No resale or transfer of press badges or named invitations.

The turnkey stay

On Tuesday 3 November 2026, the whole of Australia stops at 3:00pm for the 3200 metres of the Lexus Melbourne Cup, but the real scene plays out before and around the track: the Birdcage, a village of marquees hosted by major brands (Lexus, Myer, Crown, Emirates), where Australian high society, international guests and sculptural outfits vying for the Fashions on the Field competition all cross paths. A must for anyone wanting to see the race that stops a nation — and the most photographed garden party in the southern hemisphere.
