How to get a box at the Wiener Philharmoniker Ball

By writing directly to the Wiener Philharmoniker: box orders are placed exclusively in writing, by post or email, in the August preceding the ball, with every request placed on a waiting list and allocated according to availability. For the edition of Thursday, January 21, 2027, expect from €6,000 (Belvédère box) to €18,000 (a 10-person parterre box).

The Wiener Philharmoniker sell their boxes directly, through their Kartenbüro and ball office at Kärntner Ring 12, 1010 Vienna. Orders must be sent in writing in the August preceding the ball, so the timeline is tight; allocation follows availability and every request goes onto a waiting list. Official prices for the January 21, 2027 edition: parterre box €18,000 for 10 people or €15,600 for 8, standing parterre box €8,000 for 8, premium balcony box €14,520 for 12, balcony box €8,000 for 8, Belvédère box €6,000 for 6. Failing a box, table seats (€105 to €180) are already sold out for 2027; what remains are individual entrance cards at €220, on sale from January 11, 2027 at the Kärntner Ring 12 box office and online. No free invitation exists. The only reduced-price route is the opening committee, by registration with the Tanzschule Elmayer from September onward, couples only, with a mandatory audition in the autumn (card at €65): a minimum age of 17 for young women and 18 for young men, the left-turning waltz required, married couples not admitted, and mandatory rehearsals at the Musikverein the week before the ball. On the night, doors open at 9 pm, the ball begins at 10 pm and ends at 5 am; a full-length evening gown and a tailcoat are required.
